I keep one side of the tool straight because I always find it useful to have a straight edge to hand and means less tools on my wheel at once when I'm throwing. I use a straight edge to create my cylinder before I then go in with the texture edge.
The ribs feature a beautiful unicorn pastel ombre effect, make them as pretty as they are functional. Each rib showcases a gradient of soft, changing pastel colours and while the photo is representative of the colour change, each run looks a little different due to the gradient.
